A Generational Moment for New Leadership Focused on Families and Community
April 8, 2026
ROSEVILLE, CA – David Nelson, a small business owner, government affairs leader, and full-
time single father of three, last night announced his candidacy for Roseville City Council,
District 2 to a packed house at Fourscore in Historic Roseville, marking what he calls a
generational moment for the city’s future.
“Roseville is at a turning point,” said Nelson. “This is a generational moment – an
opportunity to ensure our city continues to be a place where families can thrive, small
businesses can grow, and our quality of life remains second to none. I’m stepping forward
because I believe in Roseville, and I’m ready to carry on the legacy we’ve created as a City.”
David brings a unique combination of real-world experience and proven leadership, having
built a successful firm focused on economic development, small business advocacy, and
navigating complex public policy challenges. Throughout his career, he has worked at the
intersection of local communities and state decision-making – delivering results that
directly impact working families and local economies.
As a full-time single father of three, Nelson says his campaign is grounded in the reality’s
families face every day.
“I’m running as a dad,” Nelson said. “I know what it means to balance work, family, rising
costs, and the desire to give your kids every opportunity to succeed. That perspective
matters, and it’s missing in too many decisions that affect our daily lives.”
His campaign will focus on bread-and-butter priorities for Roseville families, including:
• Safe, strong neighborhoods where families feel secure
• Supporting small businesses and local jobs
• Responsible budgeting and fiscal discipline
• Addressing traffic, infrastructure, and growth responsibly
• Protecting Roseville’s high quality of life
“This campaign is about stepping into a new chapter,” Nelson added. “A new generation of
leadership that is present, accountable, and deeply connected to the people we serve.
Roseville deserves leadership that understands today’s challenges and is ready to meet
tomorrow’s opportunities head-on.”
Nelson emphasized that his approach will be solutions-oriented, community-driven, and
grounded in service, not politics.
“I’m not interested in rhetoric, grandstanding, or standing on the sidelines,” he said. “I’m
ready to do the work – to listen, to lead, and to deliver for Roseville families.”
